Motivational Spiritual Gifts and Your Child

It may take a few years of life experiences in order for your child to finally discern his or her Motivational Spiritual Gift. There are no tests that children can take to discover their Motivational Spiritual Gift. Most questionnaires assume the person is an adult who has been in the church for a number of years.

For a child to take a test on spiritual gifts would not necessarily be reliable. Still, if your child is a believer, he or she has a gift from God! When reading the passages about spiritual gifts you will find there are no age qualifications, restrictions, or limitations. Every believer, including your child, has a Motivational Spiritual Gift. (1 Corinthians 12:7, 18; 1 Peter 4:10).

The only other realistic way to help your child find their Motivational Spiritual Gift is through observing their life experiences. As a parent you are responsible for helping your child with a variety of experiences as a way of helping them discern their gift. Remember, while it is not you who determines what gift your child has, that responsibility belongs to the Lord, it is your task to help your child grow in maturity in the faith.
